Description

Markon is seeking a Sr. Accountant to support our Intelligence Customer in reviewing and reconciling assigned general ledger accounts to a customer's cash accounts and researching any variances in order to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly review and reconciliation of assigned GL cash accounts.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly metrics, including running and downloading reports from the U.S. Department of Treasury systems, updating cash balances in spreadsheets to verify the need for cash transfers, and preparing basic journal entries to move funds in the sponsor's accounting system and in the customer's system.
  • Independently conduct research and analysis of variances.
  • Communicate unreconciled items to the responsible offices.
  • Prepare and review standard journal entries to ensure accurate monthly, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
  • Follow SOPs to perform moderate to complex tasks independently.
  • Facilitate communication with our internal and external partners and must be team oriented.

Qualifications

  • Prior accounting and financial reporting experience and/or Federal accounting experience.
  • Ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of Sponsor financial policies, practices, and main financial systems.
  • Conscientiousness and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer support, organizational ability, teamwork, tack, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to perform analytical tasks of moderate complexity, capable of working independently and exercising initiative while exhibiting sound/professional judgment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel (using pivot tables and analyze data).
  • Ability to perform basic tasks in Sponsor accounting system, and to run standard reports in Sponsor accounting systems.
  • Ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of a variety of transactions, processes, and functionality.

Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.

The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
