Description

Markon is seeking a Distance Learning Programmer to support our NRO client from Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities

The ideal Distance Learning Programmer will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Design and develop features for Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online learning platforms

  • Customize and integrate third-party tools and software to enhance platform functionality

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with online education systems

  • Collaborate with instructional designers and educators to convert course materials for digital delivery

  • Ensure all courses meet accessibility standards and are responsive across all devices

  • Provide technical support to instructors and learners during course execution

  • Develop and implement educational tools including simulations, multimedia features, and interactive assessments

  • Create scripts and APIs for seamless system integration and workflow optimization

  • Write clean, maintainable code for education-focused applications

  • Conduct comprehensive testing and debugging for stable platform performance

  • Maintain and enhance system security and reliability through regular updates

  • Stay informed on emerging educational technologies and recommend innovations to improve engagement and outcomes

Qualifications

Required:

Entry-Level:

  • 0–3 years of experience with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field

  • OR 7 years of related experience with a High School Diploma/GED

  • OR 5 years of related experience with an Associate degree

Intermediate-Level:

  • 4–7 years of experience with a Master’s in a related field

  • OR 10 years of related experience with a High School Diploma/GED

  • OR 8 years of related experience with an Associate degree

  • OR 6 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree

Senior-Level:

  • 8+ years of experience with a Doctorate in a related field

  • OR 16 years of related experience with a High School Diploma/GED

  • OR 14 years of related experience with an Associate degree

  • OR 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree

  • OR 10 years of related experience with a Master’s degree

AND

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Counter-Intelligence Polygraph

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, C#, HTML, CSS, and SQL

  • Experience with LMS platforms (e.g., Edge Portal, IntelliMedia)
  • Flexibility to manage competing priorities and work varied schedules

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration capabilities

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field

  • Familiarity with NRO learning platforms such as CLEON

  • Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary instructional design team

Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr.
