Markon's partner company is looking for a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade Customer. The ideal candidate will have experience working both independently and collaboratively, with a strong foundation in software design, development, and testing.
Design, develop, test, and maintain complex software systems based on documented requirements
Analyze system requirements and perform high-level and detailed software design
Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure compliance with design specifications
Document software designs, test plans, and results in accordance with organizational standards
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues
Contribute to decisions regarding software/hardware trade-offs and reusable components
Evaluate and integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products
Provide input on system-level architecture and design, including requirements analysis and decomposition
Participate in Agile or traditional development lifecycles depending on the project needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine software features and architecture
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Strong experience with software development methodologies and life cycle
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or C#
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with real-time systems, large-scale data processing, or enterprise business systems
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
Knowledge of COTS/GOTS integration and evaluation
Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, or distributed computing
