Markon is seeking a Specialized Engineer lll to join our team in West Mifflin, PA supporting a government customer!

• Lead and execute laboratory test programs, as well as subcontracted repair method development and demonstration efforts.
• Plan, execute, and track project work, including technical instructions, procedures, procurement actions, and budget performance.
• Identify, research, test, and evaluate metallic and non-metallic repair technologies, leveraging welding, machining, and other industrial processes.
• Contribute to the development and qualification of novel repair techniques.
• Collaborate with engineers, shipyards, vendors, and Naval Reactors Headquarters to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Support project management activities, including planning, resource coordination, and performance reporting.
• Travel to vendors and shipyards as needed to support planning, equipment testing, and repair deployment.

• Must have active DOE L clearance to be considered.

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university with at least 10 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university with at least 7 years of relevant experience.

• Experience leading and executing laboratory operations in a productive, timely, and compliant manner.

• Ability to develop, test, evaluate, and qualify repair procedures in the laboratory, as well as consult with fabrication vendors and shipyards.

• Knowledge of repair operations such as gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, epoxies/composites, and mechanical/machining processes.

• Ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards.

• Strong skills in planning and executing technical programs, designing experiments, analyzing results, and preparing technical reports.

• Experience making technical presentations and communicating results effectively.

• Potential for telework up to 25%

Desired:

• Experience with automated or mechanized gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).

• Demonstrated acumen in executing laboratory-based work.

• Familiarity with inspection methods.

• Strong individual initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability.

USD $140,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
