Description

Markon is seeking an Manufacturability Engineer to join our team as part of the Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) project!

Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, and disposition supplier mechanical design submittals, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, manufacturing standards, and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations to provide design-for-manufacturability input throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Apply ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to validate and improve component designs for accurate manufacturing and assembly.

  • Provide technical recommendations to optimize designs for production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of assembly while maintaining functionality and reliability.

  • Interface with suppliers, vendors, and project stakeholders to resolve design challenges, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities.

  • Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and problem-solving sessions to identify and address potential manufacturing risks early in the development process.

  • Leverage knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication processes to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.

  • Ensure adherence to engineering codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ASME, AWS) throughout the design and review phases.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency, quality, and manufacturability enhancements across the program.

Qualifications

  • Must have active DOE L clearance to be considered.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a similar capacity.
  • Experience with Model Based Design.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability.
  • Experience implementing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) into designs.
  • Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS).
  • Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers.
  • Experience with machining and all forms of welding processes across design and production.
  • Potential for telework up to 15%.

Desired:

  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.

Pay Scale:

  • 3-9 years of experience - $120,000-$127,000
  • 10+ years of experience - $128,000-$145,000

Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $145,000.00 /Yr.
