Description

Markon is seeking a Strategic Communications and Engagement Advisor that will support our NRO client from Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities

The Strategic Communications and Engagement Advisor will serve as a trusted partner to NRO, GED, and I2SPO leadership, ensuring clear, consistent, and effective messaging across technical and non-technical audiences. This role requires both strategic foresight and tactical execution to translate complex technical concepts into accessible language for senior leaders, oversight bodies, and external stakeholders. The Advisor will coordinate cross-directorate forums, guide communications strategies, and mentor government personnel to enhance representation in high-visibility engagements.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes decisional and informational forums in support of NRO, GED, and I2SPO leadership.
  • Authors talking points, prepared remarks, and speeches for NRO leadership.
  • Creates original content for inclusion in GED and NRO presentations.
  • Advises GED and I2SPO leadership with regards to engagement strategies relating to Congressional, ODNI, and DoD oversight organizations.
  • Coaches and mentors government officers to ably represent GED in forums.
  • Converts highly technical content, tools, and processes into plain language for diverse audiences, ensuring comprehension by non-technical stakeholders such as policymakers, oversight organizations, and external partners.
  • Guides discussions across SPO, GED, other NRO Directorates, and external organizations, ensuring alignment of messaging and consistent strategic narratives.
  • Develops communication strategies and narratives that align with organizational priorities, ensuring leadership is equipped to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships with oversight entities, partner agencies, and external organizations; prepares leadership for high-stakes engagements with Congressional committees, ODNI, and DoD representatives.
  • Establishes repeatable processes, templates, and toolkits for communication deliverables to ensure consistency and efficiency across engagements.
  • Tracks emerging issues, technical developments, and oversight trends to proactively shape leadership communication strategies.
  • Provides rapid-turn, accurate communication products during time-sensitive events or oversight inquiries.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of experience supporting strategic communications, mission integration, and/or technical consultation
  • Experience with Geospatial systems, tactical mission integration, and ground systems capability analysis
  • Experience with interagency communications and complex coordination
  • Must have strong networking and communication skills

Salary Range

USD $160,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
