Description

Markon is seeking a Nuclear Facilities Engineer to join our team in Niskayuna, NY supporting a government customer!

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical work documents that incorporate engineering controls for radiological, environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene compliance in activities involving radioactive and/or nuclear material.
  • Train and qualify as an Engineer of Radiological Work, maintaining required certifications and supplemental qualifications.
  • Oversee facility and infrastructure maintenance activities, ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.

  • Maintain and monitor project work schedules, coordinating with internal teams and stakeholders to meet deadlines.

  • Conduct field observations and inspections to validate compliance with technical requirements, safety standards, and quality objectives.

  • Support hazard analysis and risk assessments, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place for nuclear-related operations.

  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to address engineering challenges and ensure alignment with project objectives.

  • Prepare technical reports and documentation summarizing findings, observations, and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Perform additional engineering support duties as assigned by management to meet project needs.

Qualifications

  • Must have active DOE L clearance to be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
  • Experience in writing technical reports through work-related experience.
  • Work experience as a Nuclear Facilities Engineer.
  • Potential for telework up to 10%.

Desired:

  • BS degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering or other related field.
  • Previous experience as an Engineer of Radiological Work and/or ability to rapidly qualify.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Radiation protection background through education or work-related experience.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Pay Scale:

  • 5-9 years of experience - $120,000-$127,000 
  • 10+ years of experience - $128,000-$145,000

Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $145,000.00 /Yr.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
