Description

Markon is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 6 to support our Intelligence Customer out of Fort Meade by  providing technical leadership and direction for software engineering activities that support cybersecurity mission managers. The role involves overseeing software development efforts, managing application migrations to cloud environments, and developing transition plans for legacy systems. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, strategic planning, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead software development activities to deliver capabilities for cybersecurity mission managers.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings to identify and prioritize fixes and enhancements for deployed capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain planning and reporting artifacts to inform management of schedule and cost impacts.
  • Schedule, support, and monitor application migration to cloud environments.
  • Develop and manage Transition and Decommissioning (T&D) plans for legacy applications.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, computer science, or related technical field.

  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in software/systems engineering, systems integration, or related technical disciplines.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex software development efforts in support of national security or defense missions.

Technical Skills:

  • Cloud Computing: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or government cloud equivalents), including the deployment and management of mission-critical applications.

  • Application Containerization: Proficiency in container technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

  • System Orchestration: Expertise in automating workflows, deployments, and system management for distributed environments.

  • Software Engineering Practices: Deep understanding of secure coding standards, DevSecOps methodologies, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • System Integration: Ability to integrate legacy applications with modern architectures and ensure seamless data and process continuity.

 

Non-Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the SCRUM Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), agile principles, and sprint-based delivery.

  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for project management, documentation, and agile collaboration.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.

Salary Range

USD $215,000.00 - USD $235,000.00 /Yr.
